THER’S a funny joke going on in Dagupan.
It’s like this.
People, by and large, are happy with what is going on in their city. In spite of the bankruptcy left by the past administration, Mayor Belen Fernandez was able to turn things around – in record time.
Dagupan is en route to tip top shape, income-wise.
How did she do it? Well, she just did it. Honest and sincere kasi. Walang artihan. Trabajo lang, tutok sa goals and objectives.
Ganun lang? Yes, ganun lang, but that’s everything! That’s the art and science of governance.
Yesterday, a demolition job vs Mayor Belen Fernandez started. Her detractors have filed a suit against the mayor.
No, she has not received a copy of the suit yet. But knowing Belen—oking oki sa kaya ito, para she knows whom to charge too. Gumagawa ng mabuti, tinitira? Kwidaw kayong mga mapanira ha?
For a while, we thought charges and counter charges won’t be advisable. Kasi ang orientation natin e, go to the negotiating table. Kaya lang may mga war freak.
Pero kayang kaya. She is not Indiha Gandhi for nothing.
Tignan nyo naman ang timing ng pag-file nila—on the eve of the Bangusfest. Sa umpisa pa lang, may malice na agad, talagang nuisance na ang dating.
Para na rin yong pag-file nila kay Ermin. Nadis miss!
Kayo ha. If you ask us, we’ll tell you, “You can’t fight City Hall.”

Yong mga pinag-gagawa nila, ng mga alipores ng dating nakaupo si city hall, abuse of authority, malversation of public funds, disallowed expenditures, and several violations of auditing procedures have reached a point where several heads will roll. The COA’s findings are out!
Madami ang nagtataka, napakaingay ng mga detractors ni Mayor Belen Fernandez, na parang wala pang nagawa raw e, but per our research and records, kay dami nang pumapalakpak.
Sa physical aspects lamang ng ciudad, kitang-kita ang ebidensya. Ang linis ng kalsada.
Tax collections have shot up, an evidence of confidence in the new leadership team, like yong sa city swimming pool, where it was dumped in oblivion, ngayon dinadayo at ibinubunyi. World-class na nga.

A couple of weeks back, we had an interesting chat with members of the Police Advisory Council.
Col. Marlou Chan, now a top honcho in the Region, presented a very good blueprint for 2030.
Know what? A worrisome reality obtains in our midst—ex police officers usually end up as criminals.
Bakit ganito?
Ex cops ending up as hulidap or kidnapping criminals. This poses grave dangers…kasi may built-in edge sila e.
They are more dangerous than the ordinary criminals.
It’s dangerous — mga dating pulis nagiging criminal.
Sana the council come up with a holistic, proper and earnest crime solution plan.
Look at this. Noong bata tayo ang expression magsumbong tayo sa pulis. Ngayon — huag kang magsumbong sa pulis, baka ma-hulidap ka!
Kawawang Pinoy, but that’s the way it is—and we want to address the problem as best as we can.
