Thoughts on Dagupan City’s modernization

HAVE you ever stopped and wondered if that precious idle real estate comprising the city plaza were converted to a modern multipurpose center?

Ok, that’s just an idea—but not a wild one, is it?

A grand plan that may include the controversial MCAdore complex, that is, if Ambassador Cabangon-Chua and Mayor Belen’s team could work things out smoothly may envision a grandiloquent edifice. Hmm…..yes, it could possibly include our Polyclinic building across the street.

It should not stop there. We can factor in what certain leaders of Barangay Pantal are envisioning for a promenaders’ hub.

In other words, our city planners may re-do the moribund plaza (it’s only used four or so times a year Christmas, Rizal Day, Holy Week programs, et al) and convert it into a new business center.

Let’s imagine the 1st floor of the proposed building for a multipurpose hall, the second floor for city personnel’s offices, the 3rd floor for government offices and the 4th, a world standard convention center. Of course, elevators and/or escalators should be provided for.

Our old plaza originated from our Spanish colonizers. So don’t be surprised at its Jurassic look. The visioning was only for small communities.

We are now in the 21st century, computer and millennium age, one-stop shop.

Before, it was sacrilege to find a church just a meter away from a business center.

In Japan, a city hall is juxtaposed with a sport center. We should be in step with the trends!

Ha??? The vanquished are still at it?

Que barbaridad!

Why can’t these never-say-die elements learn the art of sportsmanship? Like in boxing? Pag K.O. na, bangon and embrace the winner!

We understand Rep. Gina de Venecia is appropriating P5-million to upgrade the school facilities.

Kayong mga critics please naman, try to be- in step with developments. You are already crying over spilt milk.

At press time, we were informed that the sudden disappearance of the River Cruise was a case of Double Cross.

What’s that again, Manny Roy?

We are here to help rebuild our city.

Tulong tulong na lang.
