Oath-taking galore!

Gonz Duque

By Gonzalo Duque

FRIDAY was oath-taking galore of our elective officials, from re-elected Governor Spines to his favorite bise and the board members, and all municipal officials.

Engrande, kabaleyan!

In Dagupan City, our Mayor Belen Fernandez, to Vice Mayor Brian Lim and the councilors took their oaths before CSC Chairman Francisco “Pincoy” Duque III.

Sino ba itong Duque na ito?

Mabuhay kayong lahat!

After the rites, what?

For Guv Spines’ well-deserved re-election, yes, despite all the put-down operations and the foulest propaganda against a man—here’s a shipload of congratulations!

We know that after what he has been through, Spines will now be pre-occupied with what he would leave behind for the youth and the future generation.

Ag natawalan so impanalo nen Guv. Ingorangor toy kalaban to with 535,000 vote margin! Malinew ya singa crystal so mandate. All of us now see the Guv marching to the drums of his heart en route to leaving a legacy for Pangasinenses. He should be busy now transforming the province into a dream abode of fruitful and progressive people.

We suggest he should not forget his vow for the firming up of a Pangasinan museum and the promotion of the province’s cultural heritage.

Mabuhay ka, Governor!

Look, Dagupan had a famous visitor last week, former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando.

Extending their felicitations and welcome were Bishop Socrates Villegas and Mayor Belen Fernandez.

With Bishop Soc providing the inspiration, Mayor Belen get assurances of support and direct help from Chairman Bayani in making Dagupan City a model LGU with a stress on the Rule of Law.

Focus of Bayani’s advocacy in Metro Manila then was urban renewal.

Bishop Soc pins his hopes on Belen’s obsession to rid the city of corruption. He, the Bishop, wishes to follow the Mayor’s actions on laying the groundwork for Daang Matuwid in the city best exemplified by President Pnoy, a close friend of the Bishop.

Maybe, it’s too early to demand tough actions from Mayor Belen. But, no matter. She stands for Daang Matuwid, and so we’d ask and expect her to do no less.

This brings to mind the case of the illegal fishpens who, for whatever “magic” they were able to inflict the lady Mayor, were given two months of grace period (palugit) before they are dismantled or removed.

Ano ba yan!

Mayor Belen, we are 100% behind you, your Daang Matuwid! Please don’t be a “pusong mamon” (soft heart) to those illegal fish pen operators. They are law violators, and they deserve the fullest measure of the law.

Huag tayong padadala, kesyo as in the past administration, they asked for a moratorium…anong nangyari, the fish pens proliferated like mushrooms. We now have by the latest count 250 illegal fishpens.

Makapoy, madi, mayor, for you to go soft on them, illegals.

It’s time for them to go.

While younger brod Pincoy was addressing the audience at Mayor Belen’s inaugural, a lot of people were teasing us that we look younger, intimating something naughty.

We just said “we can’t help it ha ha.” But the fact is it’s “youthifying” to reside in Dagupan, di ba, Colonel Abrahano?

We hope aside from making Dagupan the best in income generating projects, Mayor Belen will sustain the program to enhance Dagupenos’ youthfulness.

Kung sa bagay, we heard brod Pincoy in his speech say malapit na siyang babalik sa probinsiya. Inggit talaga siya sa bumabata nating itsura, di ba, Manny?
