Our communities are not safe

WHEN will our public officials in Pangasinan finally act laban sa droga?

Hindi pa ba sapat na dahilan na 80 percent of crimes reported, especially mga heinous crimes, ay drug-related?

Aren’t they concerned na halos lahat ng towns and cities in Pangasinan are already drug-affected? Can they honestly say that right in their own barangays ay walang problema sa droga?

Who among us can really walk the streets na walang kinakatakutan, confident na hayaan ang ating mga anak na makipag-barkada and let them come home sa oras na gusto nila without fear na baka ma-influence sila ng maling barkada or worse, mabiktima ng mga drug-crazed people? Sa palagay ko, wala.

That’s why, I have been pushing for concerted efforts from everyone, magmula sa barangay, municipal to provincial officials at mga ordinary citizens na makipagtulungan sa mga elements ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at Philippine National Police (PNP).

Alam naman natin na PDEA and the police alone can’t solve the problem for us. Kailangan tulung-tulong, sama-sama as in together all the way.

Huwag na sanang magbulag-bulagan ang mga elected officials natin. They need to act now. Gusto ba nila na ang kaharap nilang mga constituents ay puro bangag, puro high?

Pwede ba, tama na yang pagkukubra nyo ng share nyo sa jueteng or jaiteng na yan? Mag serbisyo naman kayo, at hindi puro papogi at projects na may “S.O.P.” ang alam nyong atupagin!

What good will your impressive infrastructure projects do kung magiging drug addict o pusher lang pala ang mga anak at constituents ninyo? Anong mangyayari sa “the youth is the hope of the fatherland” kung itong mga youth ngayon ay mga drug-affected naman?

Kahit na massive ang development projects sa Pangasinan everything will just go to waste kung patuloy na tino-tolerate ang drugs sa kanilang mga kabayanan.

USELESS lahat ng mga efforts nyong pagandahin ang inyong surroundings even with your hundreds of millions of pesos worth of projects kung pababayaaan nyo naman ang peace and order ng bayan!

Hindi sa tinatakot ko ang inyong constituents ha pero come to think of it: Panatag ba ang kalooban nila na walang gumagalang mga addict at pusher sa paligid nila? Alam nyo na ang sagot diyan ay “Hindi” pero hindi pa rin kayo uma-action!

Talagang nakaka-depress ang report ng Anti-Drug Special Task Group na halatang hindi gaanong binibigyan ng pansin ang campaign against drugs ng ating mga local officials.

Mataas ang expectations ang mga Dagupeňos sa bagong chief of police ng Dagupan in the person of Superintendent Christopher Abrahano.

Dapat lang because maganda ang record ng pinalitan nya na police chief na si Superintendent Romeo Caramat.

Sa lahat ng mga concerns ng police, very serious ang threat from illegal drugs that’s why Supt. Abrahano who came from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency is the best man for the job. Knowing this, people naturally expect more accomplishments in the war against illegal drug syndicates. Huwag lang syang pabobola sa mga sweet talks ng mga grupo suspected to be behind the lucrative illegal drug trade.

Supt. Abrahano told our reliable informant, naka-tatlong drug operations na daw sila at puro positive. Very good sana but as usual, point-point grams pa rin ang bigat ng mga shabu confiscated from the suspects kaya hindi pa rin ako happy dyan.

He should do more, arrest more drug personalities, seize more drugs. Huwag mo silang tantanan!

Kaya Supt. Abrahano, don’t be deceived by one city official na kunwari tinatakot na susunugin diumano ang bahay ng mga drug dealers sa isang area sa Dagupan. Hanggang daldal lang siya, wala namang action!
