Being Santa

By Johanne Margarette R. Macob

IT’S about two weeks more before Christmas comes. I bet many, if not all, of us are already rattling about gift ideas, with questions like “what to give” and “will he/she like it?”. Of course we all want to be appreciated and if we hand over something, we would love to see a sense of happiness from the recipient of whatever it is that we have put effort, and/or money, and thoughtfulness to. So what’s the best gift to give this season? Of course, it still is and forever will be LOVE. And love can be expressed through a number of ways. What are the ways? I wish I could help through these tips:

  1. If you have the means, why not buy the thing that your loved one has been longing to have. As expensive as this tip might be, remember the worth of that person to you and to your life. So if you can afford it, why not, right? But of course, you can first check online for the prices of gadgets for instance and even purchase online. Some websites offer great discounts!
  2. If the budget is tight- which is the situation for most of us- I recommend eyeing for year-end sale in a number of malls near your vicinity or buying at a tiangge and redecorating the stuff to give a personal touch. And uhm, Christmas cards will always do. It’s the thought that counts, right?
  3. If you have not much of a disposable income, then make your own gift! Make your own Christmas cards. You can also look around your room.  Still none? Then look around the house. I’m sure you can find something that will remind you of the person you want to give something to. And then use your creativity, a touch of imagination, a few strokes of paint brushes or anything that can add color or the like… and Eureka! You just created your very own Christmas present. No money spent, much effort instead! Who wouldn’t appreciate that thing? 😉
  4. Or if your time and resources won’t permit the above suggestions, then you can always give a big dose of HUG! It’s Christmas time, a sort of cold season so why not spread warmth and love!

We can all be Santa Claus. Well it’s not about the gifts; it’s about the thought after all. And let’s make everyday Christmas Day. Merry Christmas lovely ones!
