BINMALEY Mayor Simplicio Rosario said many residents affected by the demolition of structures obstructing pedestrian and motorists traffic are already complaining.

He said he has followed the order from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) or he will be suspended and charged for insubordination before the Ombudsman.

“Don’t blame us, mayors, because we are only following the order from DILG,” Rosario said.

He added that if they fail to clear road and sidewalk of obstructions, “we will be suspended or charged by the Ombudsman”.

He advised those complaining to call President Duterte’s 8888 citizens’ complaints hotline to air their grievance against mayors implementing the order.

Baka kampihan pa kami,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said not only structures but also trees on road shoulders that have become obstructions for motorists must be removed in the ongoing sidewalk clearing operations.

Rosario said he will request the Provincial Environment and Natural Office, through the Binmaley municipal council, to allow cutting of trees along the highway that obstruct passage and are hazardous to motorists. (With PhilStar Wire Service)
