LINGAYEN – The alert level in Pangasinan was lowered to ‘blue’ on Wednesday after Tropical Depression Jenny left the Philippine Area of Responsibility but the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) confirmed that it left low-lying barangays in the towns of Sta. Barbara, Calasiao, and Dagupan City severely flooded.

PDRRMO Spokesperson Avenix Arenas said while rains were minimal, the flooded barangays are traditionally prone to flooding.

There were no casualties recorded whilst Jenny breezed over Pangasinan, and no reports of evacuated families were recorded – except for Dagupan City where 16 families, or 77 persons in Sitio Fisheries in Barangay Malued were evacuated because it was submerged six feet underwater.

As of Thursday, the water level of Marusay River in Calasiao continued to go down.

Calasiao MDRRMO Spokesperson Kristine Joy Soriano said 10 barangays were still affected and their situation was expected to improve if once the level of the river returns to normal level.

She said she expects the blue alert to be withdrawn by this week. (Ahikam Pasion)
