Capitol cites 3 young taekwondo in int’l wins

THE provincial board commended on Monday three young Pangasinenses who won in the recently-concluded 17th International Clubs Taekwondo Organization Championships.

Lauded in approved resolutions were Raikkonen Soriano, John Benedict Cunanan and Alliyah Mari Burla.

Burla, 12, from Barangay Buenlag, Mangaldan snatched a gold medal while Soriano, an 11-year-old taekwondo prodigy of Barangay Buenlag, Calasiao and Cunanan, also 11, from Barangay Navaluan, Mangaldan won bronze medals each.

The three separate resolutions congratulating them were authored by Vice Gov. Mark Lambino, Board Members Vici Ventanilla, Angel Baniqued Jr, Jeremy Agerico Rosario and Liberato Villegas.

The resolutions cited the three young Pangasinenses who participated in martial arts competition held in the City of Haikou, Hainan Island, China on Aug. 21-24.

The competition was participated in by 1,000 athletes from 20 countries all over the world.

The resolutions said that their sterling performance at an early age should serve as an inspiration and model of the youth in the province of Pangasinan who aspire to be taekwondo enthusiasts. (PhilStar Wire Service)
