When fun run became Color Run

LINGAYEN – The capital town of the province never runs out of vivid and majestic colorful themes.

On August 12, over 1,000 participants from the barangays and schools in the town assembled at the Baywalk area, for the first ever 5-kilometer Color Run 2019.

Members and officials of barangays Sangguniang Kabataan, Katipunan ng Kabataan and students from the Saint Columban College and Pangasinan National High School which has the biggest delegation. There are also others from the nearby towns who joined.

“Masaya po yung experience, kakaiba siya sa mga karaniwang fun run kasi bukod sa color run, may hydro party pa after kaya talagang mae-enjoy mo. Sulit yung registration fee na binayad. Masaya talaga siya lalo na ‘pag kasama mo yung mga kaibigan mo,” said Alexandra G. Gargar, participant from Saint Columban’s College.

“Ayos lang naman po, enjoy naman siya kasi may bayad na 150 pesos and ‘yun is magagamit daw para sa mga out-of-school youth at pakana ‘yun ng SK Federation ng Lingayenfor Linggo ng Kabataan tapos ginawa rin ‘to para ma-maintain ng mga estudyante ‘yung pagiging physically fit.” – Mordecai Paragas, SHS student and runner from Pangasinan National High School.

According to Gabriel Ivan C. Tuazon, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president and event chairperson, the purpose of the activity was to celebrate the Linggo ng Kabataan (Youth Week) and an opportunity to raise funds to support the out-of-school youth projects., and feeding programs for the street children.

Tuazon thanked Rep. Jumel Espino, Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil and all government agencies that supported, participated and assisted in the event that was a huge success. (Melody Valenton)
