While the San Carleans fought a daunting play against Bayambang in the first two quarters, 12-24 and 42-43, the San Carlos City cagers of Mayor Julier Resuello finally won the match by 10 marks, 88-78, with big efforts from its marquee players Jose Mari Estabillo, Reynato Dizon and Leo Gubatan who combined a total of 54 points to clinch the Group A title.

“We trained hard because we want to defend our title successfully and determined not to extend it to game three and it paid off,” said head coach Felicisimo Daroya.

But it’s the other way around for the inspired Bugallon boys of Mayor Mely I. Espino, who  dethroned the defending Group B champion Urbiztondo with much gusto, 93-68. S tarred by its three key players Gestoni Asuncion, Albert Prado and Aldrin Malicdem, the did not disappoint the mammoth Bugallon crowd led by the mayor Espino and her son, 2nd District Rep. Jumel I. Espino who both watched the hostilities.

“We were bent to win and all our hardships were all worth it, thanks to God,” said head coach McCris Mabazza.
