LINGAYEN– Mayor Cezar Quiambao of Bayambang filed three counts of libel against public affairs broadcaster Janice Hildalgo over an alleged derogatory commentary about the mayor she made during a block-time radio broadcast.

Hidalgo readily surrendered to the Basista Police Station on August 6 upon learning that that a court issued a warrant of arrest for her.  She promptly filed the bail bonds for all the three cases at P24,000 each.

Represented by Atty. Rafael Martinez of Bayambang, Hildago actually first surrendered on July 23 before Branch 56 of the Regional Trial Court in San Carlos City and posted her bail bond of P24,000 and was released.

However, her bail bond was revoked for still unknown reasons and a new arrest warrant was issued against her.

Thee complaint was based on a commentary she made in her public affairs block-time program aired over Aksyon Radyo Dagupan.  The radio station was not impleaded in the libel case.

(Leonardo Micua)
