LINGAYEN—Six batches of slightly affected drug-users already completed their rehabilitation and reformation program conducted the Provincial Reformation Center in Barangay San Vicente, Burgos.

According to Carlos Resurreccion, executive officer of the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), the six batches (composed of 30 drug surrenderers), underwent a four-day residential training that included value formation and education, and livelihood training.

Resurreccion said only the slightly affected drug users, called lorries, from different towns and cities were recommend for the rehab program.

The severely affected surrenderers were endorsed for rehabilitation at accredited public or private rehabilitation centers.

“We limited the number per batch to 30 so we can give full attention to each of them,”  Resurreccion said, adding that they want to make sure that after four days, each lorry would be a changed man or a woman.

Those who underwent the training at the PRC first went through the Community-based Drug Rehabilitation Program in their respective barangays through their Local Government Units.

He said the program, at no cost to the recommending town/city, was handled by trained staff from the Pangasinan provincial government.

The PRC was established by Governor Amado Espino III to help speed up the rehabilitation of slightly affected drug surrenders.

The facility was built on a lot donated to the Pangasinan provincial government by the family of the late Burgos Mayor Demetrio Cabiles. (Leonardo Micua)
