Umingan rider tops Mangaldan bikefest
INSPIRED by the accomplishments of his town
mate four-time Tour champion Santy Barnachea, Pangasinan’s newest discovery,
Mervin Corpuz of Umingan proved to the cycling enthusiasts that he’s the new
kid in town to reckon with by topping the First Pangasinan Cycling Grand Prix
2019 on July 14 held in Mangaldan, Pangasinan.
Corpuz outsprinted the first group of five riders in the last 250 meters to top
the 24-kilometer hotdog shape criterium race to pocket the P3,000 top prize
with trophy.
Philippine national team member Dominic Perez of Sto. Tomas, Pangasinan came in
close second while Alfredo Asuncion, Jesus Sembrano, and Mark Resi rounded up
the top five winners, respectively, and also received cash prizes, trophies and
medals apiece.
Other winners: (Under 23 years old) Aidan James Mendoza (San Manuel), Chrysler Tadena (San Manuel), Efren Reyes (Dagupan City), Jhonrey Buccat (San Manuel), Kenneth Maramba (Dagupan City).
(40-49 years old): Jesus Garcia (Sta. Maria), Ricky Zabala (Laoac), Romel Narvas (San Fabian), Roque Bautista (San Fabian), Jefferson Valdez (Asingan).
(50-59 years old): Lito Rabot (Villasis), Mon Nicolas (San Manuel), Osias Alpindo (Guimba, N.E.), Joe Maramba (San Fabian), Alfonso Clauna (Dagupan City).
(60-and-above years old): David Hugo (San Fabian), Archie Nanquil (San Fabian), Diony Aquino (Mangaldan), Alejandro Daoatin (Urbiztondo); Rolando dela Cruz (Malasiqui).
