Pangasinan gets more classrooms from FFCCCII

BARRIO SCHOOLS PROGRAM

THE Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc.’s (FFCCCII)

Operation: Barrio Schools Program donated 6,800 units equivalent to 13,600 classrooms across the Philippines since 1961.

Bonifacio Lui, chairman of the Welfare Committee of FFCCCII, said after the turn over of two units in Lingayen on July 19 that the Federation continues to build classrooms with the province of Pangasinan getting the lion’s share. The group turned over school buildings in Lingayen I  Central School and Sabangan Elementary School, both in the capital town of Lingayen.

More than 320 school buildings have already been constructed by FFCCCII in Pangasinan, making it the biggest beneficiary of the chamber since 1961.

About 170 local Fil-Chinese chambers of commerce help to provide school buildings in barangay schools under its Operation: Barrio Schools program.

Last week, school units were recently turned over to Pangascasan Elemetary School in Bugallon, Manaoag National High School and in Calasiao and Sta. Barbara.

Lui said FFCCCII focuses on donating school buildings “because we consider education as a passport to employment.”

The Barrio Schools program is funded mostly by officers and members of FFCCCII, families and members of the local Chinese-Filipino communities.  (PhilStar Wire Service)
