STOCKPILING for the rainy season? No worries, because cheap yet quality rice from the National Food Authority (NFA.) Regular-milled NFA rice can be bought at accredited retailers in public markets at PHP 27 per kilo.

According to Chona Maramba, Assistant Manager for NFA Western Pangasinan,  Department of Agriculture is extending the sale of imported rice in NFA stores from August until September to enable it to focus on purchasing local harvest as emergency reserves.

 “Marami pa rin tayong stocks, and kaya pa nating magkaroon ng para sa emergency or sa mga panahong kulang tayo”, said Maramba.

In the NFAWP’s latest inventory, there are 193,00 cavans of imported rice available, plus 90 cavans in their storage to cover including calamity situations. (Ahikam Pasion)
