Comelec’s off-site registration starts Aug 1

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Pangasinan will hold voter registration in malls and schools across the province during the two-month registration of voters which starts on Aug. 1 to reach out to as many new registrants.

“We will go to malls, schools and barangays,” Marino Salas, Comelec provincial election supervisor, said.

Targeted primary registrants are for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) but transfer of registration and reactivation of registration, change/correction of entries, inclusion of registration record and reinstatement of name in the list of voters for regular voters can also be done.

Satellite registration from August 1 to September 30, Monday to Saturday, including holidays, will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Applicants for youth voters should be 15 years old on or before the May 11, 2020 SK polls while for regular voters, he/she must be 18 years old on or before the May 11, 2020 barangay elections.

First-time voters must bring copy of their birth or baptismal certificate or any valid government-issued identification card.

Comelec is eyeing to register some two million new voters during the two-month registration period.

Salas clarified that those who already registered for SK no longer need to register.

Pangasinan had 1,946,682 registered voters in the May 13 polls. (PhilStar Wire Service)
