LINGAYEN – The 378 personnel of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) were ordered to take a mandatory drug test on Thursday, June 13 at the Magilas Hall of Camp Antonio U. Sison here.

In a statement, P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, acting PNP provincial director, said the surprise drug tests were ordered as part of the intensified and sustained internal cleansing among its ranks.

He said the tests will weed out police personnel involved in illegal drugs and appropriate legal actions will be taken against them.

“This is in line with the stern warning of the Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership that the Internal Cleansing Program be religiously implemented from the PNP headquarters down to the local police stations in order to be worthy of the trust and confidence of the people that we have sworn to serve and protect,” Maranan said.

He said there will be drug testing for all policemen, especially those assigned in the lower units.

He added the police will not tolerate any member of the organization who violates the law and gets involved in illegal drug activities.

“Personnel who will be found positive shall be dealt with accordingly,” he said.

Maranan also enjoined the public to provide the police with information about illegal drug trade in their communities and report it to the nearest police station or in PNP’s social media account (Facebook Page – PNP Pangasinan and Facebook Account – Pangasinan PPO) or through PPPO’s hotline: 0917-148-9938.
