THE Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Pangasinan Chapter will conduct the KBP accreditation examination on June 22 (Saturday) at the Asian Fisheries Academy in Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources center in Bonuan Binloc here.

Gina Almazan, chairperson of KBP-Pangasinan Chapter, said that KBP is implementing the accreditation program for announcers as a means of raising the standards of professionalism in the broadcast industry.

She enjoined management of radio and television stations to encourage their members to take the accreditation exam.

“KBP member-stations will disallow unaccredited announcers to go on air unless they pass the accreditation exam,” Almazan said.

Accreditation also entitles an announcer to accident insurance and death benefits. The KBP accreditation is valid for two years upon issuance.

An announcer’s accreditation can be suspended or revoked for violation of the Broadcast Code.

The examinees will be given a half day seminar on the code of ethics of journalism before they take the exam in the afternoon.

Examination fee is P700.00 while those who wish to renew their KBP accreditation will have to pay P600.00  (PIA Pangasinan)
