During an interview with the media, Gov. Espino cited that the Provincial Scholarship Program Management Evaluation and Excellence Committee (PSPMEEC) has recently included slots for highly competent students who are sports winners in regional and national competitions. He noted that there are already six groups, these are: Highly Academically Competent group, Automatic Qualifiers (Valedictorians), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), the Muslim Federation, the Arts, and the Sports Scholars.

Pina-plantsa po ang ating mga plano upang mas mapangalagaan ang ating scholars, nais po natin silang tulungan hanggang sa kanilang pagrereview sa board exam, most especially ang ating mga nurses dahil kailangan po natin sila sa ating mga ospital dito sa probinsya,” the provincial executive stated during the interview.

Gov. Espino noted that the provincial government is looking forward to nurture the provincial scholars, mold them to become one of the civil servants who will serve the province as a pay back to the Pangasinense people and help them on their employment.

Nagpapasalamat po ako sa provincial government dahil naging malaki ang parte ng scholarship program na ito sa pag-abot ng aking pangarap,” expressed Mahrionne Luis B. Revilla, a scholar graduate who ranked top 10 during the 2018 Licensure Examination for Teachers. He is one of the two topnotchers produced by the PSP in 2018 with Ferren M. Velasco who placed 8th in the ECE Board Examinations.

Revilla asked the newly awarded scholars to strive harder and share their skills and talent to the province.

Meanwhile, each scholar will receive PHP 10,000 worth of financial grant every semester, as stated in the Provincial Ordinance No. 205, Series of 2017 – an ordinance institutionalising the Provincial Scholarship Program (PSP) of the Province of Pangasinan, being implemented by the PSPMEEC.  /Allyn Villahermosa
