URDANETA HAS NEW COP

AFTER only less than three weeks as OIC of police of Dagupan City, P/Lt. Colonel Percival Pineda turned over his post to his successor Lt, Colonel Abubacar Mangilen Jr. in a turnover ceremony, Thursday afternoon.

No reason was made for the abrupt reassignment of Pineda, who assumed as OIC chief of police on May 27 succeeding then OIC Chief of Police P/Lt. Colonel Jandale Sulit.

Pineda, who was reassigned to Police Regional Office 1 in San Fernando City, La Union, became the OIC chief of police of Dagupan serving the shortest stint ever.

A graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy in 2001, Mangelen is not new in Pangasinan. As a matter of fact, this is his third tour of duty in the province.

As a junior officer, he was first assigned as aide of then Police Regional Director Leopoldo Bataoil, He also served as police station chief of Binalonan, San Quintin and Umingan.

He was deputy chief of police of Urdaneta City, Malasiqui and deputy for the provincial intelligence branch at the police provincial office.

The turnover of command was witnessed by incoming City Mayor Brian Lim.

In Urdaneta City, P./Lt. Colonel John Guiagui turned over his office to his successor P/Lt. Colonel Vicente Castor.

Guiague who served Urdaneta City as chief of police for only six months was reassigned to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office. (Leonardo Micua)
