Bombing of Kapitan’s house suspected as election-related

SAN FABIAN–An explosion believed to be election-related damaged two vehicles as well as the window of the house of the chairman of Barangay Aramal at about 11:00 p.m. on May 27.

Police investigators were still the determining the type of explosive device thrown by the unidentified suspect in front of the house of Virgilio Garcia, incumbent barangay captain of Aramal, 56.

Although the explosion happened at 11:00 p.m. on May 27, it was only at 7:20 a.m. the following day when Garcia reported the incident,” said P/Major Melecio Mina, town police chief.

He said Garcia and members of his family were awakened by the explosion but were too afraid to go out to check fearing that the suspects could still be around.

When daylight came, Garcia found the windshield of his L-300 van and the rear glass of his other vehicle, a Mazda 3, and window jalousies of their house broken.

Garcia suspected that explosion might have been meant for him who said he received a death threat even before the election. (Leonardo Micua)
