Barangay bursar shot dead

CALASIAO—The barangay treasurer of Bued in Calasiao was shot and killed by a still unidentified gunman while having coffee with a neighbor in front of his house at about 6:30 a.m. on May 20.

Killed was Lauro Parajas, 63, who suffered several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. He was rushed to the Villaflor Hospital in Dagupan City where he was declared dead on arrival.

Initial investigation showed that while Parajas was having a conversation with his neighbor, Kelly Abulencia, the suspect suddenly appeared from nowhere and shot the victim.

Already wounded, Parajas managed to run a few meters away but he was followed by the gunman who shot him again while already lying on the ground.

Further investigation revealed that the victim reportedly received a death threat the night before coming from his own nephew Larry Vic Serafica owing to an old grudge.

Four empty shells of Cal. 45 pistol were found by elements of the Scene of the Crime Investigators from the crime scene. Investigation is still going on, (Leonardo Micua)
