DCSC registration for summer sports clinic starts

THE registration of young and aspiring athletes for Dagupan City’s annual summer sports clinic has started.

This was confirmed by Dagupan City Sports Commission (DCSC) Vice Chair Finnela T. Sim during the Philippine Swimming Incorporated’s 2019 Grand Prix Qualifying Leg held in the city from April 6 to 7.

According to Sim, the sports clinic will he held May 6 to 30, with 15 sports events to choose from.

The events are arnis, archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sports, football, gymnastics, karatedo, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, wushu and wrestling.

 There are 100 slots open for each event.

Sim said the summer sports clinic is free and open to all residents and students of Dagupan. Registrants need only to submit a photocopy of their birth certificate or school ID.

Deadline of submission of application is May 3.

The free sports clinic, held annually in partnership with Dagupan City Athletic Association, DepEd and local and national coaches, aims to develop the youth’s interest in sports as enhance their potentials.

Last year, more than 800 young Dagupeños completed the three-week sports clinic.

The annual clinic also served as training ground for the city’s gymnastics team who recently hauled medals from this year’s Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) meet.
