THREE turned out positive in a random drug testing conducted among 211 drivers and conductors by various government agencies at various bus terminals in Dagupan City on Monday.

Found positive of illegal drugs use is one and two conductors. There were 104 drivers, 106 conductors and one inspector who underwent the random drug testing.

The random drug testing was conducted jointly by personnel of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Dexter Asayco, PDEA team leader in Pangasinan, told Bombo Radyo Dagupan that the random drug testing was part of the simultaneous implementation of Oplan Holy Week  nationwide in various parts of the country.

According to Asayco, a confirmatory drug test will be conducted on the specimens of the three who were found positive of illegal drugs and if they turn out positive anew, they will be endorsed to the LTO and referred to their respective companies.

He said if the confirmatory tests again turn out positive, the three will be placed under the watch list by both the PNP and PDEA, and will be referred to agencies that will determine the extent of drugs in their systems and determine if they need to be referred to drug rehabilitation centers or just recommended to undergo community-based rehabilitation program near them.

Asayco said the bus companies vowed to initiate their own random drug testing among their employees.

He said LTO, LTFRB and PDEA will still continue to conduct surprise random drug testing in the next weeks ahead. (Leonardo Micua)
