VOX POPULI POLLS

IF the elections were held today, Gov. Amado Espino III will win his reelection handily over his lone challenger, Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste.

This was the indication of the Benchmark Poll on Situational Preferences for Elective Positions in Pangasinan conducted from February 14 to 24 by the Quezon City-based Vox Populi Polls, a research group of Art G. Valenzuela Consultancy.

The polling, conducted in an interview with 1,200 respondents, males and females, from different age groups belonging to D1, D2, ABC and E  socio-eco classes, from three cities and  44 municipalities of Pangasinan.

The results made available to THE PUNCH showed Espino getting 73 percent of the nod of the respondents while Celeste was credited with 23 percent in overall preference.

The poll has a margin of error of 2.3 percent.

When converted into justifiable numbers, this 70-30 ratio would show Espino getting 821,250 of the votes against Celeste’s 303,750 or a margin of 577,500 votes, Vox Populi Polls said.

The poll survey was commissioned by a group of businessmen led by Catjoe Tayag of Angeles, Pampanga ostensibly for studying future capital investments.
