GOV. Amado  Espino III has declared war on plastic wastes during the local launching of the Kalinisan Karaban and first shopping day in San Carlos City, held at the Arenas-Resuello Sports Complex on March 1, 2019.

“Ayon sa ating mga scientists, in 2050, mas marami na pong basurang plastic sa dagat kaysa sa mga isda… nais po nating ibahin ang tingin ng ating kababayan sa ating mga basura. Tulad nga ng sinabi ni dating gobernador at ngayo’y Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr., ang tiyaga at sakripisyo natin sa kasalukuyan ay para sa ating mga susunod na henerasyon sa hinaharap. Kaya’t itong araw na ito, we declare war on plastic,”. Espino said.

The governor was joined by City Mayor Joseres Resuello, City Administrator Voltaire Enrico Cabuay and Pangasinan Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Chairman Jerome Vic Espino.

San Carlos City was chosen as one of the pilot areas.

Resuello said the city has been implementing ‘No Segregation, No Collection Policy’ and the new program will boost the campaign to segregate their wastes.

The plastics for goods program residents to collect plastic wastes, such as: PET bottles, pet bottle caps, sando bags, food wrappers and others in exchange for goods and other incentives. Residents only need to present their ledger cards to the established Kalinisan Karaban mobile store where grocery items, school supplies and other goods are stored.

Launched on January 26 at the Capitol Grounds in Lingayen, the Kalinisan Karaban earlier held “Shopping Day” and local launching in the towns of Bautista on February 15, Tayug on February 21, and Bugallon on February 22. (PIO/AIV)
