SP APPROVES RESOLUTION SEEKING TO HEIGHTEN AWARENESS AND VIGILANCE ON BULLYING. 4TH District Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario comprehensively discusses his proposed provincial resolution 2275-2019 which seeks to heighten awareness and vigilance on bullying through stricter implementation of existing laws such as Republic Act. No. 10627 otherwise known as the “Anti-bullying Act” and other related department orders, which was unanimously approved during the 87th Regular Session of the 9th Sangguniang Panlalawigan officiated by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. last February 4, 2019 at the Provincial Capitol Session Hall. / EOV & TBF (Photo by MVS).

As revealed by Dr. Donato Balderas, Jr., Schools Division II Superintendent during the Sanggguniang Panlalawigan’s Question Hour on Bullying, there were 521 cases in Schools Division II alone, including the bullying of an 11-year old boy and 19-year old Kenneth Langit last January 7 and January 15 respectively, which resulted to their deaths. This prompted the SP to pass legislative measures to address and minimize the number of bullying in schools.

Measures to further raise awareness on bullying in schools include posting of anti-bullying pictures and slogans and signing of commitment on anti-bullying among students.

The approval of the said resolution ensures that students are equally protected in an environment where they could safely learn and grow.  /Tiffanny B. Ferrer & Ericson O. Velasco
