THE construction of an annex building of the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Rosales town is underway to expand its medical services for residents in Eastern Pangasinan.

Abono partylist Rep. Conrado Estrella III told local newsmen that he has secured a P50- million budget for it  He has earlier donated a 1,900-square meter lot which now houses the Rosales Government Center where the R1MC annex building will also be erected.

He added he is sourcing out more financial support for the planned extension health facility.

“We want to bring the government service closer to the Filipino people,” he said.

During his recent visit at the five-story Training and Eye Center Building of the R1MC based in Dagupan City, Estrella was all-praises for Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia, R1MC director, for coming up with such innovation in public healthcare.

“This is a great help to our kababayans. They (Sec. Duque and Dr. Mejia) have a great team here. They did a great job. We would like to duplicate this in Eastern Pangasinan,” he said.

Mejia said the R1MC Rosales Annex will house a Trauma and Emergency Medical Center to be manned by more than 100 employees to respond swiftly to road incidents.

Mejia said in the pipeline of the hospital infrastructural developments this year are the construction of the proposed main building, inauguration of the R1MC Cancer Center, establishment of the R1MC Neurosciences Center and R1MC Catheterization Laboratory. (PhilStar Wire Service)
