NO RENEWAL, NO BENEFITS

THERE are 33,370 members of PhilHealth in Pangasinan whose membership need to be renewed by their sponsors in order to continuously avail of health benefits under the Philippine Health Insurance Program.

Josephine Quiton, chief of the field operations division of PhilHealth in Region 1, urged the sponsors, mainly local government units, congressmen and other financially-capable persons in their localities, to re-enroll and pay the P2,400 monthly premiums of the sponsored members.

Those whose membership were already renewed as of January 1, 2019, said Quiton, were 446.050 PhilHealth members in the region previously included in the National Household Targeting System (NHTS) list of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Quiton said those in the NHTS list are from the rank of the poorest of the poor in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

All active PhilHealth members enjoy in-patient services in hospitals and out-patient services in rural health units with PhilHealth shouldering wholly or in part their expenses for their treatment and medication as well as confinement for certain types of ailments.

Joseph Manuel, chief of PhilHealth’s public affairs unit, said also availing of PhilHealth benefits are members of the 4Ps as well as senior citizens and other indigents not included in the NHTS list but enrolled by hospitals through the point of care service. (Leonardo Micua)
