City soon to have its own drug testing center
A resolution was passed by the
Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) that authorized the inclusion of drug testing as
one of the services to be rendered by the Dagupan City Health Office Laboratory
Clinic.
Authored by Councilor Dennis Canto, the City Health Office Laboratory Clinic is
a facility licensed by the Department of Health (DOH) to operate as a clinical
laboratory only.
He said the resolution was necessary because it is one of the requirements
sought by DOH before it can endorse the expansion of services of the laboratory
to include drug testing center.
As a drug testing center, city government employees and residents of
Dagupan will greatly benefit from the center since most cannot afford to
pay the high cost of drug testing in private clinics.
The center will also support the campaign of the Dagupan City Police against
illegal drugs and suspects in cases of illegal drugs no longer need to be
brought to the Region 1 Medical Center for drug testing. (Leonardo Micua)
