R1MC Training and Eye Center provides advanced healthcare services

DAGUPENOS and other residents from other nearby localities may now avail of advanced healthcare services at the newly inaugurated Region 1 Medical Center’s new Training and Eye Center Building in Dagupan City.
The five-storey building is equipped with modern, state-of-the-art facilities for an array of diagnostic and laser services for eye problems such as optical coherence tomography, perimetry, fluorescein angiography, auto refraction, Argon laser and many more. There are also specialists for vitreo retina, plastic lacrimal-orbit, cornea and external eye needs.
It also includes facilities for other medical services such as surgery, animal treatment bite, OB Gyne, Chemotherapy, a Heart Station, including the only existing Epilepsy Monitoring center of its kind outside Metro Manila.
The new building also features “The Odeum”, a theater with a 280-person capacity for symposiums and event gatherings.
Those in need of immediate financial assistance for medical needs will now also be able to seek the help they need with the establishment of a MALASAKIT Center.
The center puts several government agencies such DOH, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), PhilHealth and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) under one roof to provide a convenient way to fast-track government services.
All these were shown to guests during the inauguration ceremonies of the edifice held on October 19.
The visitors included Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Taguig Representative Pia Cayetano, Former House Speaker Jose De Venecia, Jr. and Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon Sec. Raul Lambino.
They were joined by Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and Liga ng mga Barangay president Dean Bryan Kua.
A known advocate of healthcare, Rep. Cayetano lauded the quality of healthcare services that are now made available to patients. “I’m so happy to see all the investments that we are putting in today to provide the best healthcare (for Filipinos).” said Cayetano.
This, after Center Chief Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia bared the hospital’s recent achievements in his hospital report.
Meanwhile, Sec. Duque shared how it was President Rodrigo Duterte who pushed for the establishment of MALASAKIT centers in the country.
“This is the pet project of the President. He has been very aggressive about this. He doesn’t want to let our people wait too long while queuing because it is a very tedious process. This also helps provide clear accountability (in the government processes).” added Sec. Duque.
He also added that MALASAKIT centers will first be established in DOH hospitals before being implemented in local government health centers. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
