CITY Mayor Belen T. Fernandez turned over the 50 transcend body cameras purchased by the city government for four offices serving as front liners in the city in a ceremony at the City Museum on October 2.

The recipients of the body cams are PNP Dagupan, Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Anti-Littering Division and Market Division.

The usage of body cameras by front line personnel in their daily operations is one way of increasing transparency as the devices can act as accountability and evidence collection tool.

Police Chief P/Supt. Jandale Sulit said the cameras will be used by the city’s Police Community Precincts, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team and Speed cops to aid them in their day-to-day operations.

A seminar on the protocol to be observed for its use will be conducted for those asked to use the body cams.

POSO head SPO4 Carlito Ocampo said the cameras will aid in monitoring both traffic violators and enforcers.  (CIO/VDV)
