Cheating collector faces estafa rap

A COMPLAINT for estafa was reported to the Dagupan City Police by a motorcycle dealer  against its own credit collector for allegedly defrauding the company of collections of monthly installment payments of chattel mortgages from motorcycle buyers.

The complaint was filed by New Star Enterprises Corp. against Alvin Untalan for violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code by allegedly using a photocopied official receipt for the collection from customer Cristan Adman Loreno of San Jacinto town.

The company also asked the Dagupan City Police Station to investigate Untalan who on two occasions reportedly wrote actual payment on the original of the official receipt issued to the customers but the duplicate of the receipt kept by the company reflected a lesser mount.

A complaint filed by Benjamin Fernandez, an employee of New Star on October 25 against Untalan alleged that on October 18, 2018 at around 11:30 a.m. Loreno, the customer,  reported to their office that he paid P3,000 but Untalan only reported P2,600 as payment for his one month installment of his mortgage.

The management of New Star also discovered that another OR (No. 043351 dated July 31, 2018) also purportedly issued by Untalan was found reported a lesser payment than the actual money he received from a customer.

Because of these incidents, New Star is contemplating to file a legal action against Untalan. (Camilla Fernandez/OJT)
