LINGAYEN—Second District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil and two others were hurt when their van collided with a motorcycle early morning of Oct. 5 along the Paniqui-Camiling-Tarlac highway.

The congressman and his driver Armando Manlongat were on their way to Pangasinan on board a Starex van when a motorcycle rider traveling from the opposite lane swerved to their lane to avoid hitting rocks spread out on a newly cemented road.

Manlongat said part of the highway was under construction and was not easily visible in the dark.

Bataoil and his driver immediately brought the rider, Renato Macato, to Teodoro Memorial Hospital and later transferred him to Sto. Nino Hospital in Camiling for CT scan.

Macato is now out of danger but was advised to stay in the hospital for observation.

Meanwhile, Manlongat experienced chest pain while Bataoil suffered neck pain with no other injuries.

Bataoil’s staff assured callers that the congressman and his driver are ok. (PhilStar Wire Service)
