Tayug kagawad arrested for keeping firearms, bullets

TAYUG—An incumbent Barangay Kagawad of Carriedo, Tayug was arrested by the police in the early morning of August 27 for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Raul Lombok Macato, 51, was arrested after lawmen served a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Mervin Jovita Samahan of the Regional Trial Court Branch 70 in Burgos town.

According to Chief Inspector Jose L. Abaya II, OIC at the Tayug Police, they recovered one piece of 7.62 bullet, one 5.56 bullet, one 9 mm. bullet, one Cal. 22 and one Cal. 9mm. Beretta gun replica from the house of the suspect.

All the items seized were turned over to the PNP Crime Laboratory Office for safekeeping.

P/Chief Superintendent Romulo E Sapitula, RD PRO1, said the raid on Macato’s house was in line with the intensified implementation of the comprehensive laws on firearms and ammunition in the region. (Leonardo Micua)
