2nd PANGASINAN INTER-LGU UNITY GAMES 2018

SAN CARLOS CITY and Urbiztondo lived up to their billings as the top title contenders in the tournament by demolishing their respective co-finalists Bugallon and Sta. Maria, to seize their respective basketball division titles 1 and 2 in the 2nd Pangasinan Inter-LGU Unity Games 2018.

The games held on September 6 and 7 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen, saw the San Carlos City quintet survive a hard earned 97-94 victory in the first game of the best-of-three championship series to prove that their first game victory was not a stroke of luck at all.

The San Carlos five smothered Bugallon, 78-52, in the second match. Efforts by center Leo Gubatan pumping in 14 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in the second half alone made the big difference in the game to the delight of the San Carlean crowd.

In the second division, Urbiztondo won the first encounter by six points, 71-65. It easily cruised in the second game and the title by default, 20-0,  after Sta. Maria conceded the match and contented itself with the first runner-up plum.

In volleyball women’s finals, Division 1 qualifying round pennant winner Sta. Barbara won the first match against defending champion Alaminos City, 3-0, lost in the second joust, 2-3, and eventually won the close-contested third and final game, 3-2, to win the championship, it’s first after two tries.

In Division II, Aguilar upset reigning titleholder Burgos in two consecutive sets, 3-1 and 3-0, to bag its first finals diadem after two straight seasons. (Jesus Garcia, Jr.)
