THE rape-slay of a sales lady of City Supermarket Inc. (CSI) was considered solved in less than 24 hours after the Dagupan police arrested four men believed to be involved in the brutal incident.

P/Superintendent Jandale Sulit identified the suspects as Rhadu Ubando Eugenio, 36; Jonathan De Vera, 29; Alfredo Ubando, 28, and Flor Moulic Jr., 26, all of Sitio Guebang, Barangay Pantal in Dagupan City.

The suspects readily admitted to drug use and alcohol intake prior to the commission of the crime as they were about to tested for drug-use at the police station.

Though they admitted to be under drugs, they refused to own up to the crime.

All four were tagged by a lone witness, also from Barangay Pantal, as the prime suspects in the slaying of Reisha Vidal, 21, whose body was found floating in the river the next day.

The body of the victim was positively identified by her mother Gemma Vidal, 53, a housewife and a resident of Pantal Guibang, Dagupan City on August 28.

Reisha’s body was first discovered by Alberto Panagsagang, 62, of Centro Pantal, Dagupan City and Rolando Espanyol, 42, a, fisherman, of Guibang Pantal, on or about 7:15 A.M. on August 28, 2018 after they noticed a floating body on the water near their place.

She had no lower garments, her blouse was raised, an indication that she was first abused before she was killed.

Sulit said the result of the autopsy performed by Dr. Benjamin Bautista of the City Health Office on the victim was not yet available.

Initial police investigation showed that the suspects were on a drinking spree before they decided to grab the victim in a dark alley while walking to her home from work.

Sulit assured Dagupan residents that the incident was just an isolated case and despite the incident, Dagupan remains a safe place.

Meanwhile, the Vidal family is crying for swift justice for their daughter’s brutal slaying.  (Leonardo Micua)
