Inter-LGU Unity Games-Volleyball:

LINGAYEN– Team Aguilar took down their nemesis, Team Sison winning three straight set to cap the do-or-die semi-finals round under Division II of the 2nd LGU Unity Games Women’s Volleyball Tourney.

Aguilar led by star player Maria Karen Baraquio built an early momentum and secured a 9-point advantage against Sison, 25-16 at the end of the first set.

Aguilar sustained its game to begin the second set of the game with a 5-point advantage, 8-5 through speedy spikes and furious kills that eventually built a 19-point advantage in the second quarter, 25-6.

After getting blown out in the first two sets, Sison charged back with a power-up teamwork to prove their grit to win this round but was foiled by Aguilar’s Baraquio blistering spikes to put the opposing players on their knees.

Strong-spirited player Emy Castillo of Team Sison led her team to hit back every attack of Team Aguilar. On the other hand, Baraquio assisted by Sharlene Rosario produced consecutive unanswered points mostly off smashes for her team.

Aguilar will advance to the final rounds to complete the contingents vying for the championship tilt in the tourney including: Team Burgos under Division II that swept Team Infanta with 3-0; and Teams Sta. Barbara and Alaminos City under division 1 which earlier secured their seats in the championship rounds after trouncing Rosales and Bayambang, respectively. (PIO//SMDG)
