LINGAYEN—The provincial board declared on Monday four officials of Speed Game Inc. persona non grata for snubbing four invitations of the legislators to appear during its Question Hour and to shed light on the mechanics of Small Town Lottery (STL) operation in the province.

Second District Board Member Raul Sison, chairman of the Committee on Games and Amusement in the provincial board of Pangasinan, authored the resolution that declared Edward Aguilar, president; Alfie Soriano, district coordinator; Anthony Ang-angco, provincial administrator; and Jose Millora, operations manager, all with office address at Barangay San Vicente East, Urdaneta City, as persona non grata.

Speed Game Inc. is the authorized agent corporation by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to operate STL in Pangasinan.

Sison said he had warned that in past sessions that continued failure of the Speed Game officials to appear in the board’s Question Hours would prompt him to declare them persona non grata.

“Sinabi ko dito, binabastos po ang Sangguniang Panlalawigan, binabastos po ang taong bayan ng Pangasinan,” Sison said.

Sison’s motion was seconded by Second District Board Member Nestor Reyes, the majority floor leader.

Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr, presiding officer, said Sison’s sentiment was shared by all members of the provincial board.

“These persons and the company are declared persona non grata,” Calimlim stressed as he banged the gavel.

In their previous Question Hour, Board Members Sison, Angel Baniqued Jr, Noel Bince, Jeremy Agerico Rosario, Liberato Villegas, Reyes and Calimlim Jr stressed they were fighting for the interest and welfare of their constituents, the cabos (persons who supervise the bet collectors) in particular, who are reportedly shortchanged for receiving only five percent (5%) instead of ten percent (10%) commission from the total collections per day.

Sison said the amount turned over to PCSO from January to June was P554,797,000. The amount given to cabos is 27,739,000 for the said period, he added.

He wondered where the money that is supposed to be received by the cabos goes. “We have to look for it. We bring this matter to you so we can help,” Sison told a PCSO official in Pangasinan during their last session. (PhilStar wire service)
