Medalists in national games get cash incentives

LINGAYEN— For winning gold, silver or bronze medals in national sporting events, the province’s young athletes and their coaches received rewards from Governor Amado I. Espino, III.

The provincial chief executive, on August 3 awarded a total of Php508,000 in cash incentives to 53 medalists in Palarong Pambansa, and 26 medalists in Philippine National Games (PNG), including 37 coaches in the said major sporting events of the country.

Cash incentives ranged from Php2,000 to Php5,000.

Elated over the performance of Pangasinan athletes in the two sports spectacles, Espino assured them of the provincial government’s continuing support for them.

The Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) was created to oversee the development of athletes in the province.

Pangasinan shared 4 gold, 7 silver, and 20 bronze medals in the total medal haul of Region 1, and placed 11th in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa held in Vigan City while. Pangasinan collected 13 gold, 13 silver, and 12 bronze medals for the 10th place overall ranking in the PNG. (PIO/MGNO)
