The Liga ng mga Barangay – Dagupan Chapter’s duties consist of prioritizing programs for the total development of barangays, promote united and concerted action as well as promote the social, economic and political well-being of the barangays and many more.
Mayor Belen T. Fernandez lauded the new Liga president for already pushing for plans and initiatives for the enhancement of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) programs in all barangays in the city.
Fernandez noted the timeliness of Kua’s initiatives, with Dagupan being one of the cities greatly affected by torrential rains and extreme flooding in the past few weeks.
“Our city has its own Quick-Response Team working cohesively during times of calamities and disasters. That’s why when our new ABC (Liga) President already proposed a reorientation and reorganization of DRRM Councils in every barangay, I immediately approved.” said Fernandez.
Fernandez also expressed hope that the new Liga members will regularly meet with the city’s department heads in order to improve the efficiency and to expand the city’s services in every barangay.
Aside from performing the duties of a Barangay Chairman and Liga President, Hon. Dean Bryan Kua will now serve as ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP). He will chair the Committee on Barangay Affairs. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
