THE city government, headed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, turned over P2M-worth of musical and electronic equipment to the Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS) on August 1.

The musical instruments include electric, acoustic and bass guitars, xylophones, gongs, Mindanao ethnic instruments, drum sets, kulintang, and marimbas, among others. Guitar, bass and keyboard amplifiers and speakers were also turned over.

Meanwhile, some of the electronic equipment to be utilized for media arts also include desktop sets, LED TVs, boom mics, two-way radios with headsets and speakers.

The equipment will be for city-funded Special Program for the Arts (SPA) building, that will serve as a training ground for students from grade 7 to 10, who are gifted in the arts.

The building will have areas specifically designed for various forms of arts such as music, dance and theater, creative writing, media arts and visual arts.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, in her message during the turnover, reiterated her full support for the exploration and enhancement of the youth’s talents in arts, with the local government funding both the building and equipment for the gifted students.

Fernandez also urged the youth to value their education and learn how to balance both their studies and talents.

“As the city mayor, I am given the opportunity to help and to serve all of you, that’s why I want every young Dagupeno to finish college so they can all be globally competitive. Your education is very important because this is for you.” said Fernandez. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
