Capitol provides another P5.75-M  livelihood grants

LINGAYEN— Governor Amado I. Espino, III led the awarding of another P5.75 million in financial aid to 36 groups, and two Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as part of the Livelihood Assistance Program (LAP) of the provincial government

The fourth batch of LAP beneficiary groups this year was joined by seven new recipient groups, and one new recipient MSME.

Espino was assisted by Provincial Population Officer Ellsworth Gonzales, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emil Samson during the LAP awarding ceremony held at the Ricarfort Tee Restaurant, Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center on July 31.

The program has already served 56 batches, with P115,577,650 million in financial assistance since October 2008 when the LAP was launched and introduced by former governor and now 5th district Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr.

The repayment rate leveled at 95.7%.

Palakasin nyo pa ang inyong mga negosyo at gagawin namin sa provincial government ang aming makakaya para suportahan kayo,” said Espino, who disclosed a possible partnership with the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) for the expansion of the LAP.

He said the province can increase the P250,000 maximum amount that a group can avail from the province every cycle to Php500,000 or more, with LBP as partner.

Under the present administration, renewal cycle has also increased to eight cycles from the usual three cycles.

Fourth batch of LAP beneficiary groups this year, include seven new organizations: Nagkaisang Magsasaka ng Urdaneta City, Inc., Nilombot Farmers’ Field School Association, Inc. – Mapandan, Alyansa, Bayanihan at Kapatiran Central Pangasinan Agriculture Coop. – Sta. Barbara, Magbayanihan Ladies Association, Inc. – San Fabian, Catungi Farmers Association – Bolinao, Maaliguas Farmers’ Association – Bayambang, Olo Credit Cooperative – Mangatarem.

New MSME beneficiary is Abe’s Mushroom Enterprises – Urdaneta City.

The other groups are on their 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th cycles of renewal. (PIO/MGNO)
