LINGAYEN–Several roads and bridges in western and central Pangasinan were rendered impassable as a result of the onslaught of Tropical Storms “Henry” and “Inday”.

The alert was issued by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) 11:00 a.m. on July 20.

Not passable in Agno due to flooding were the roads in Barangay Macaboboni, particularly in Sitio Abagatanen and the Sabang-Abagatanen Bridge, and in Barangay Bangan Oda, particularly Sitio Palobaoiy.

Passable only to heavy vehicles was the Calzada-Caranglaan Road in Mabini leading to Burgos, Dasol and Infanta towns.

Also not passable was the road going to and from Sitio Patridoin of Barangay Balayang in Alaminos and motorists were advised to use Laod Road instead.

The Dimmayat Bridge in Alaminos was also not passable to motorcycles and tricycles.

The Garrita Bridge in Bani was earlier reported closed but the emergency repair of its scoured detour approach quickly restored access through it.

The Castillo Road in Barangay Oraan East in Manaoag was reported by the PDRRMO to have been closed due to flooding.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in Sta. Barbara helped sandbagging operations on the earth dike in Barangay Alibago, Calasiao after it was observed to be leaking caused by rampaging water of the Sinocalan River.

The PDRRMO reported on Friday that there are 61 barangays in Pangasinan still flooded and 130 families, consisting of 430 persons from different flooded municipalities were evacuated to various evacuation centers.

Western Pangasinan reportedly bore the brunt of the two typhoons although some barangays in Calasiao and also in Dagupan City were already flooded.

Meanwhile, as of 10:0 a.m., July 20, the elevation of water of the San Roque dam was measured at 253.43 meters above sea level (masl), way below its spilling level of 280 masl.

The PDRRMO continued its monitoring of the flood-prone areas. (Leonardo Micua)
