PNP arrests 9 suspects for loose firearms, drugs

SIMULTANEOUS OPERATIONS

LINGAYEN — Nine suspected members of a guns-for-hire group were arrested and various loose firearms and ammunitions were confiscated during simultaneous operations of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) and local police units last July 11.

PPPO with the joint operation of Provincial Force Company and different units, started the operation at 3 a.m. of July 11, when operatives launched simultaneous operation in Agno, Burgos, Bayambang, San Carlos City, Bautista, San Manuel and Malasiqui serving search warrants that lasted till 11 a.m.

The police operations resulted in the arrests of nine persons, one of whom is a member of a guns-for-hire group and the confiscation of one 9mm pistol, one shotgun, two cal. 38 revolvers, one caliber 45, several ammunition, one bayonet, three magazine assemble, one holster, one magazine assembly for caliber 45 pistol and two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, PPPPO public information officer, said 11 search warrants were served but only 9 turned positive during the operations.

Rodrigo Malong y Eleazar of Barangay Gueset Norte in San Manuel town, a suspected gun-for-hire and involved in robbery was not around when the search warrant was served.

Seized from his house were a cal. 45 pistol, a cal. 38 revolver and several ammunitions.

In Barangay Bangan-Oda, Agno, Sixto Nieves was arrested for possessing a cal. 9mm pistol armscor, one bayonet, one magazine and five ammunitions.

The two search warrants for Bangan-Oda Punong Barangay Richard Salvador and Nelson Birog in Agno turned out negative result.

In Don Matias, Burgos town, a construction worker identified as Richard Andam, was arrested for possessing thirteen bullets for cal 5.56 and one M16 magazine assembly.

In Barangay Bani, Bayambang, a drug surrenderer, Sunny Garcia y Valdez, 50, carpenter, was arrested for possession of one 40mm bullet intended for rocket propelled grenade launcher (RPG), two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one strip of aluminum foil and one lighter.

In a compound in Barangay Cruz in San Carlos City, the Galvez brothers identified as Romberto, a government employee, Leonardo and Mario were arrested for illegally possessing seven bullets for cal. 45 and four bullets for cal. 9mm., 5 bullets for a shot gun and one holster, one shotgun, one cal. 38 revolver, five bullets for cal. 38 revolver, one holster for cal. 38 revolver and fifteen bullets for M16.

In the operation in Barangay Nibaliw Norte in Bautista town, Marvin Magat was arrested for illegally possessing one cal.38 revolver and eight bullets for cal. 45, one spent shell and four bullets for cal. 38 handgun.

In Poblacion, Malasiqui, Randy Fernandez, 52, was arrested for possessing one hand grenade and 5 bullets for cal. 45 handgun.

P/ Superintendent Virgilio Pascua, deputy provincial director for operations, said the simultaneous operations were conducted to account for all loose firearms as part of the anti-criminality campaign in the province. (Nora Dominguez)
