PHO reports 94% increase in dengue cases, 8 deaths

LINGAYEN—It’s rainy season and it’s the season for dengue cases, a fact confirmed by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

The province already recorded a 94 percent increase in dengue cases with eight deaths from January to July 16 this year.

The data from PHO showed that there were only 1,180 dengue cases with five deaths in 2017 covering the same period but this year 2,289 cases with eight deaths were already registered over the same period last.

The youngest case this year is a two-month-old baby boy while the oldest is an 86-year-old woman.

Listed under dengue watch by PHO so far are: Urdaneta City (220 cases), Alaminos City (168), San Carlos City (145), Binmaley (118), Asingan (113), Lingayen (104), Pozorrubio (103), Bayambang (102), Mangaldan (99) and Binalonan (76).

This year, two deaths have been reported each in Anda and Urdaneta City while one each in Binmaley, San Carlos City, Asingan and Pozorrubio. (Eva Visperas)
