LINGAYEN—The province will continue to see the full implementation of the campaign against illegal drugs, illegal gambling and Oplan RODY.

This was the assurance made by P/Sr. Superintendent Wilson Lopez, the new officer-in-charge at the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office on June 25.

“Under my leadership, the Pangasinan Police will always be a partner of the provincial government in making the province a safe place to invest, live, work and raise a family,” he told the provincial board.

Lopez, who was installed as new OIC at the Pangasinan police vice Senior Supt. Ronald Lee, said “it’s nice to be back. I am from LIngayen, so my heart is in Pangasinan.”

In a talk to newsmen, Lopez thanked Chief PNP Oscar Albayalde for giving him the opportunity to serve his own province as its OIC-provincial director.

A graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy in 1998, Lopez served as intelligence and operations officer of the Pangasinan PNP before he was designated chief of staff of the PNP Support Services at Camp Crame.

Lee, who assumed as OIC of the Pangasinan Police in 2013, has been designated chief of staff of PNP Region 7 in Cebu.

Police Region 1 Director Romulo Sapitula presided over the change of command in a simple ceremony at the PNP Agtarap Hall in the morning of June 23.

“We will continue all those that were done by the former provincial director Lee,” he said including Oplan RODY that seeks to implement local ordinances against street loiterers, vandals, those drinking liquor in public, smoking, loitering in the streets without shirts on, urinating and defecating in the streets, litter bugs and others.

At the same time, he said that there will be no changes of chiefs of police unless the incumbents are on schooling, in which case their posts need to be filled up.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim said he is confident that PPPO under Lopez will be able to maintain the improved peace and order in the province.

“While we welcome you Winston, we also thank your predecessor Sr.  Superintendent Ronald Lee,“ Calimlim said as he acknowledged that Lopez is like a son to Fifth District Rep. Amado Espino Jr., and like a brother to Governor Amado Espino III. (Leonardo Micua)
