LINGAYEN – – The provincial board passed on July 9 an ordinance institutionalizing “the granting of recognition and incentives to Pangasinenses who are topnotchers in national board/bar examinations and medalists/champions in national and winners in international educational, cultural and sports events,” and appropriating funds for these.

Fourth District Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, author of the ordinance, said the provincial government has been consistently recognizing the successful careers, accomplishments and achievements of its outstanding citizens in their respective chosen field of professions and careers.

Whether as medalists and champions in the field of national and international educational, cultural, sports and other events, native sons or daughters of Pangasinan are worthy of recognition from the provincial government, he said.

Rosario said an individual or group of individuals who have distinguished themselves by their exemplary achievements in various fields of endeavors can not be left unrecognized by the province.

“The granting of recognition and incentives to Pangasinenses by the provincial government of Pangasinan is one way of inspiring them to strive for greater heights of excellence,” Rosario said.

He added that it is also another way of expressing gratitude to them for the honor and prestige they brought to the province and their province mates.

Rosario said the topnotchers, medalists and champions deserve emulation and therefore worthy of public acknowledgement. (Eva Visperas)
