Suspect yields unlicensed gun, shabu

STA. BARBARA—The town’s police were out only to serve a search warrant on a person suspected of keeping an unlicensed firearm, but arrested the suspect as well for being a newly identified drug personality.

Lawmen served a search warrant at the house of Marlon Cruz Balansay, alias “Banong”, 48, in Barangay Patayac for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation at about 6:00 a.m. on June 19.

Aside from finding a Cal. 38 revolver with one bullet inside one cabinet, the lawmen also found one heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu and four empty sachets with shabu residue and other paraphernalia inside a leather shoe at the back of the door.

When frisked, Baslansay also yielded one more sachet of shabu found in his pocket.

Thereafter, Balansay was brought to the police station and lodged at the town jail while the complaint for violating R.A. 9165 against him was also being prepared.

The implementation of the search warrant was witnessed by two kagawads of Patayac while the search was witnessed by the suspect’s father and daughter. (Leonardo Micua)
