PNP: Region’s barangays 99.93% drug-cleared

LA UNION – The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) has intensified the conduct of anti-illegal drugs activities in the region to prevent the resurgence of drugs after the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC) cleared almost 99.93% of the drug affected barangays.

Regional Director P/ Chief Superintendent Romulo E. Sapitula ordered on Friday, June 8, the conduct of more frequent and intensified anti-drug operations to deter the resurgence and proliferation of illegal drugs.

“I want a round-the-clock police operation to safeguard the community from illegal drugs so that our concerted efforts and accomplishment in drug clearing will not be wasted. We need to work together and bring forth a unified cooperation to succeed in this campaign,” Sapitula said.

PRO1’s anti-illegal drugs campaign for the period from December 5, 2017 to June 4, 2018 already resulted in the arrest of 320 drug personalities, seizure of 326 grams of shabu valued of P2,216,800 based on Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) standard.

The police also reported seizure of P131,040 worth of marijuana weighing 1,092 grams.

Meanwhile, the campaign against loose firearms for the same period resulted in seizure of 31 firearms and 13 explosives through the implementation of search warrants, checkpoints, and other police operations. (Leonardo Micua)
